Feeling a bit spirited?

I love it. Like, it's a wonderful mish-mash of genres. Science fiction, drama, humor, and it's perfectly balanced, and the romance between the lead characters is so subtle and well-done. I marathoned the first season, and I'm caught up on the second and I can't wait to watch more. (I find Matt King as the ghost rock star ridiculously charming. RIDICULOUSLY. CHARMING.)
Moving on...birthday haul! Not much as I'm not one for celebrating my birthday or encouraging gift giving (don't ask me why, I'm not sure, I just don't welcome lavish celebrations like that). I received my new phone (a few weeks ago), Doctor Who s1, La Femme Nikita s4, a couple other small things. I went to the movies with my BB to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Then came home and chilled before heading to bed. A nice laid back birthday, just how I like it.
The movie I liked alot. Understand, though, that I like it alot from the POV of an "Aper". I loved the franchise as a child, and as someone who hates older movies (it's the TEXTURE/PRODUCTION VALUE. DRIVES ME NUTS. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OLDER COMICS.), that's really saying something. I've seen them all multiple times. I loved the small nods to the movies that came before, but realistically this isn't a movie that should be seen as a stand-alone. I think you need a general idea of what the overall universe is about before you can really appreciate it.

I've got a couple of one-shots percolating in my head, I've just a need to finish them up. All new fandoms, a couple old ones, but I just can't seem to get the yen to finish my older stories. *shrugs*
